Art Club 2009
The Art Club meet every Thursday from 14:00 until 16:15. It is a popular club and we paint, do etchings, linocuts, collographs and make sculptures.
The girls have designed a way to write their own names. Using their unique designs they have made a collograph. A collograph is made up of a piece of cardboard and textured objects stuck onto this in the desired pattern. With a covering of foil over the textures we put their design through the printing press, the process of going through the printing press forces the foil into the details of the motif. Using this as our "stamp" we smear ink onto it and with wet paper emboss and print our designs, the final product is a colourful artwork that imprinted with the contours of the original plan.
Following the delight of making their first artwork, we set of to teach a new type of printing process: Linocuts. A piece of lino- similar to a square of linoleum floor tiles but slightly thicker and is carved into. The girls carve anything they like and are encouraged to be imaginative and original. After the carving process and a thin layer of printing ink is applied and again this is used as a stamp on a sheet of paper.
Every art club member has enjoyed the year thus far and we all look forward to continuing our endeavors in the creative world.
