There are many opportunities to develop leadership potential as representatives of their Grade on the Boarder Representative Council and eventually in grade 12 each girl holds a portfolio, where they all play a part in the smooth running of the hostel.

Hostel is not only about work, as there are many activities arranged allowing for girls to have fun and meet boarders from Boys High!

Security of the girls is our prime concern and there are many structures which are put in place to ensure the safety of our girls. In addition, there are teachers on duty, but we rely heavily on girls to be responsible, trustworthy and mature at all times.

2010 New Boarders

The new School House Grade 8s were welcomed to a weekend of fun and laughter in hostel on their first in weekend. They first enjoyed the Grade 8 camp with all the day girls on Friday and Saturday morning.

On Saturday evening they showed their design talent with all of the other School House boarders in the Newspaper Fashion Show. Each girl had to design, make and model an outfit made from newspaper or recyclable material. Their hostel sisters led the way and then cheered them on and they had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

On Sunday morning all the boarders went to Hatfield where the Grade 8s were shown the rules regarding going to the shops in Hatfield. This was followed by a braai at the pool and an early evening. School House is happy to have our new girls and we are sure that they will learn the ropes and be an integral part of hostel family in a very short time.
