INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY FESTIVAL, CAPE TOWN, 22- 27 JULY 2009
The First hockey team attended an International Hockey Festival in Cape Town from 22-27 July. The team played 7 games of hockey in four days which was very demanding both physically and mentally. They played a wonderful brand of hockey and were a credit to the school both on and off the field.
They came top of their pool by beating: Edgemead 3-2 D.F. Malan 1-0 Parel Vallei 3-0 Somerset College 4-0 New South Wales Bush Rangers ‘B’ Team 2-0
They then played New South Wales Bush Rangers ‘A’ Team in the semi Finals and after full time the score was 0-0. The girls then had to play 15 minutes of extra time, after which the score was still 0-0. We unfortunately eventually lost 4-2 on penalty flicks.
This resulted in us playing off for 3rd and 4th.The team proceeded to win their last game 2-0 placing them 3rd overall and winners of the bronze medals. Well done to the first team on an excellent tournament and for being such good ambassadors for the school.
