PHSG's top student, Simona Coetzee, was amongst the 30 top achievers of 2017 in Tshwane to be awarded R5 000 by city Mayor Solly Msimanga. To read more about the event, please click here.
In a closely contested run up to take the first place, Simona managed to get 8 distinctions. Her subject choices were English (84%), Afrikaans (89%), History (91%), Life Orientation (92%), Mathematics (98%) and Accountancy for which she managed to achieve an outstanding 99%. She took AP Maths as an 8th subject for which she also achieved a distinction.
Simona completed her final year with an overall average of 92.4%. She believes having a vision and detailed plan to achieve the end goal are the secrets to success, she also believes that perseverance and patience play an important part. She hopes to further her studies of Actuarial Science at Stellenbosch.
Coming in 0.2% behind her with 92.2% was Larissa Liebenberg. Larissa achieved 7 distinctions, she believes consistent hard work pays off, she says she draws inspiration from a variety of people in her life and tries to learn from her mistakes. Larissa intends to study Chemical Engineering.
