PHSG held an assembly to celebrate women - past and present - in recognition of Women's Day, celebrated on 9 August.
The items were incredible: as Head Girl, Tshegofatso Matlou, presented 'Phenomenal Woman', a poem by Maya Angelou; Kiesa Mpasa played the drums and Jessica Guimaraes played piano. The gents from Pretoria Boys High School celebrated women with their outstanding voices and Old Girl, Zenaye Skosana, serenaded women with Nina Simone's 'Feeling Good'.
Koketso Nkadimeng gave a very moving speech about the importance of mothers and Motatso Mongalo had everyone giggling with her speech about being an “ordinary” woman. Mr Smit led the assembly and gave a heartfelt and very touching talk about the privilege of being able to teach at an all-girls school and of how women inspire him and the other male staff every single day. This of course, was met with much appreciation and many “aaaw” sounds from the learners.
