PHSG received the sad news of the passing of our oldest Old Girl, Georgina Haywood, who was 103 at the time of her death.
Georgina celebrated her centenary by starting with a trip up Table Mountain during the week, followed by a tandem sky-dive. She made it a charitable event, asking people to make donations to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) in an effort to help raise funds for the purchase of more life-jackets by the NSRI.
As if this was not enough, Georgina also decided to get her feet wet and went shark-cage diving a mere two days after her skydive! She braved the cold waters of Gaansbaai and met the infamous Great White shark face-to-face. After the dive, an excited Georgina said she had no regrets.
Georgina became well-known as the 'daredevil granny' for her extreme adventures, and her life motto is definitely one to live by. “Do it now! Whether it's comfortable or uncomfortable, good or bad, relaxing or challenging – don't delay.”
