On 13 October, PHSG Public Speaking competed in the Al Ghazali Speech Contest. This is a brand new competition. The school entered two learners (the maximum number for this event), Kelebogile Ratsoana and Lehlogonolo Letshela, who presented their outstanding, innovative speeches and the feedback they received was solely positive.
The highly creative speeches included Kelebogile giving a 'eulogy' of sorts, as she was conducting a funeral for an outdated definition of humanity, and Lehlogonolo, who sent an alien broadcast from outer-space to warn earthlings of the dangers of making Social Media the 'Sun' in our universe.
Teachers from others schools as well as the adjudicators were effusive in their praise of Lehlogonlo and Kelebogile, and were astounded by their level of maturity, competitiveness, poise, and eloquence. We are so proud of both of them.
Lehlogonolo placed fourth and Kelebogile placed second overall. Their combined scores meant that PHSG was placed second overall in the competition and they won R4000 for the school.
Well done to these powerful young women
