Old Girl Develops Digital Primary Health Clinic

PHSG is remarkably proud of our Old Girl Thato Mabudusha who matriculated in 2009. Thato was selected as a World Economic Forum Global Shaper earlier this year and is making a significant difference in the healthcare industry. Dating back to her childhood, Thato has always been inspired to help others and give back to her community. Today, when she is not working towards obtaining her MA at the Wits Business School, she is using her skills to help with health innovation on the African continent.

Thato, along with her team at Life Healthcare, developed a fully digital primary health clinic which she calls “the Capitec for healthcare” because it is low cost and high quality. At the clinic, people can get access to healthcare for R250 (which includes medication and a doctor's consultation).

The remarkable work she does relies heavily on technology and the fourth industrial revolution is essential for increasing access to healthcare.

Thato also received the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South African 2019 award in July 2019. For more on this story, click here.
